Jo Jackson
EL Teacher, Hernando Elementary and Hernando Hills Elementary

About the Teacher/Welcome Msg
Hello and welcome! I am delighted to begin another year as EL Teacher at Hernando Elementary School and 2nd Grade EL Teacher at Hernando Hills Elementary School.
I have had the privilege of residing and teaching in three different states: Texas, New Mexico, and Mississippi. Each place provided rich, unique teaching and learning experiences, plus many lifelong friends.
I have taught K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. I have been a Campus Reading Specialist for a K-6th school. And now I am enjoying helping our K-2 EL students learn to read, write, speak, and listen in English!
I have a BS in Elementary Education from University of the Southwest, an MS in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University, and an Ed.S in Leadership and Administration from Delta State University.
In addition, I am a National Board Certified teacher in Reading and Literacy.
Thank you for trusting me with your child's education. And never forget, you are your child's most valuable teacher. I am here to help in anyway!
Ms. Jackson, Ed.S, NBCT

Announcements:
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, some of you have chosen to attend school traditionally, while others have chosen to attend virtually. No matter the option, teaching and learning is very important to me and to everyone in DSCS. We would like to support your child by providing some resources to help in practicing skills at home. Below you will find a couple of links for educational websites for your use. If you do not have internet, a tablet, or computer at home, please let me know. Please stay safe everyone!
